Gerri Talevich’s wildly popular Gerri’s Closet has expanded to include more dressing rooms and twice the floor space for her gently used designer merchandise.

New York City socialites head to Michaels for their previously owned Monolo Blahniks. Ravishing Resale is Hollywood’s destination for fabulous frocks. And Northeast Ohio?  They shop at Gerri’s Closet.

If you’re a little foggy as to the difference between thrift and consignment shops, let’s clear it up. Thrift stores sell donated men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and just about every household item you can possibly imagine. Proceeds from sales generally benefit non-profit organizations. On the other hand, a good consignment shop is pretty picky about what they accept and usually offer a mix of brand new and gently worn pieces. So who benefits from these sales?

You do.

Gerri Talevich launched Gerri’s Closet over a decade ago. Customers flock to find nearly new, wrinkle- and aroma-free merchandise, hung on hangers and beautifully displayed. Unlike department stores, Gerri’s Closet gives women the opportunity to own high-end casual and career fashions for extremely pleasing prices.

Like all successful businesses today, Gerri’s Closet has morphed to meet the needs of its discriminating clientele. Just last month, Gerri relocated her shop to the newly renovated Green Plaza and her floor space more than doubled.

“I loved our previous location, but finding ways to display all of our merchandise and still offer a comfortable shopping experience was getting tough,” explains Gerri. “Thanks to 3,400 square feet, four fitting rooms, two powder rooms, and better lighting, our environment now matches the fine quality garments, shoes, handbags, scarves, jewelry and accessories we sell.”

And not only does Gerri’s Closet now have plenty of parking, when customers get out of their cars, they’re only a few steps away from the “closet door.”

Change has also come in the increasing number of loyal consigners who seasonally clear out their closet overflow in order to purchase new.

You know these smart ladies—they look like a million bucks and their wardrobe is seemingly endless. They may don a Dana Buchman cashmere cardigan at a fundraiser luncheon then turn around and consign with Gerri right after. Which is often how these women afford to look the way they do, and how Gerri is able to offer current fashions—typically purchased within the past 18 months—at prices never thought possible.

To launch Gerri’s new Massillon Road location, she’s hosting a Grand Opening celebration this weekend, February 26 through February 28.

During the event, you’ll have a chance to win prizes and enjoy discounts, snacks and beverages. On Saturday, you’ll be treated to a complimentary chair massage, too. Special guests Betsy and Susan, from Shop Your Closet, will also be on hand to discuss those consignment questions you’ve always wanted to know but were too afraid to ask.

The designer labels you’re likely to find at Gerri’s Closet this weekend and beyond include Ann Taylor, Max Studio, Seven for All Mankind, Nine West, Ann Klein, Liz Claiborne, Talbots, The Limited, Tahari, Michael Kors, Gap, Enzo Angiolini, Jones New York, BCBG, Kenzie, Dooney and Bourke, Coach, Juicy Couture, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren and many more.

And while Gerri has built a reputation on those big names, she also sells ultra-affordable labels like Old Navy, Sonoma and Apt. 9. Gerri is currently accepting great spring transitional items and with new items arriving daily, so frequent shopping is an absolute must.

Gerri’s Closet is now located at 4195 Massillon Road in the Green Plaza with Fox’s Pizza, Fireplaces and More, All-Star Tanning and Gallery 143. Just 1-1/2 miles south of the Massillon Road exit on I-77. For directions or more info, please call  330-896-8141.
