On Tuesday April 29th Edens & Avant will honor Johnny Butts for 50 years service to the Fairlawn Town Centre with a luncheon.

The luncheon will be held at Cleats Club Seat Grille, 2685 W. Market St. from 11:45 AM. - 1:00 PM. A presentation will be given at 12:15 PM.

Over the last 50 years the Shopping center has had 3 different owners and countless different tenants. Johnny has been in here through it all. Johnnys service record is remarkable for many reasons, not the least of which is his work ethic. He has worked in the worst winter and summer conditions; inside, outside, and wherever hes been needed at any hour of the day and night. He still starts his day before the sun comes up and goes home only after the job is completed. He cuts the grass, trims hedges, sweeps, cleans, shovels snow, maintains equipment, can fix just about anything or tell you how, and takes great pride in keeping the Shopping Center looking good.

But diligence, dedication and hard work are only half of Johnnys story. Johnnys most endearing virtues have made him a valuable asset not only to Edens & Avant, the current owners of the shopping center, but also to two past owners, the tenants, management, service people, and customers alike. Johnny is friendly, down to earth, honest, and has integrity. Johnny doesnt complain he just comes to work and does his job. His knowledge of the property is immeasurable and he can tell you the history of tenants who have been in the shopping center over the years.

Almost 50 years ago when Johnny was interviewed for the maintenance position at the shopping center he was asked how much he expected to be paid. Johnny answered "all I expect (to be paid) is what I'll be worth for the work I'm asked to do." Johnny says he enjoys working and has no plans to quit as long as he feels good and can do what needs done. He says he feels better when he's working.

It is an honor to work with Johnny.
